Maryam’s professional journey is marked by a rich history of serving in various data and IT capacities within the Government of Canada.
Currently serving as the Director of Data Science and Information Solutions at Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Maryam has consistently demonstrated her ability to lead and innovate in the IT landscape. Her leadership in using practical and hands-on data science methods, advanced application development and artificial intelligence (AI) to address real-life issues such as food security and crisis response, showcases her dedication to evidence-based decision-making and the application of cutting-edge technology for diplomacy.
Maryam’s career also includes significant contributions at Shared Services Canada (SSC) as the Manager of Cyber and IT Security Projects and at The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA), where she held roles such as Manager of Business Services Management and Senior Advisor for Advanced
Analytics. In these capacities, she led teams in delivering cyber and IT solutions, managed budgets, and provided strategic advice to senior management.
Maryam holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (cum laude) and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Ottawa. Her commitment to continuous learning is evident in her certifications, including ITIL v3 Foundation, Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP), Canadian Risk
